Get Involved Day in Brighton & Hove
I'll be handing out some of these tomorrow at Brighton & Hove Council's Get Involved Day, but this post is really just an excuse to try posting a picture - big one at that (800x800, about 450kb)!

p.s. The auto-preview while typing is pretty cool!
I've only just seen you're last comment, thats not a good sign!
There's a hidden feature of i-volunteer, that if you address people like this @Dave_Adams (with an @ symbol in front of a username) the text becomes a link and you'll receive a notification that someone's mentioned you. I'm also planning to add a button at the end of each post to enable subscribing to receive notification of comments on other people's posts, so that should I won't miss comments in the future!
Regarding the image resizing, there's a limit on upload file size which is quite high, but the real trick is that once you're image is uploaded it gets resized to 500x500px which is the largest size that can fit in a post. This means each image never takes up that much storage space on the server.
With the messaging functionality there should be a predictive drop down list that appears once you start typing- are you seeing that? If not, could you let me know what browser you are using and I'll investigate.
I'm glad your liking i-volunteer- I'm very much enjoying building it!
Thanks Sam, that's worth knowing. Do the images get compressed to a certain resolution 'regardless' or is there a size (kb) limit when uploading?
p.s. Just a small functionality comment... it would be great to have a predictive list (rather than having to type the whole name) when sending a message to another user e.g. as I start to type 'Jamie'..., particularly as it's not always obvious how somebody's name is SPELT even when you know who they are! - or am I missing something? Probably.
It's a great site, getting better by the day :)
Cool, thanks for testing this out David. I would have sworn that this image is taller than it is wide, but it must be a visual trick, because I've just measured it twice and its exactly 492x492px!
Images also get compressed a bit upon upload and your image is now only 35kb. That quality doesn't look great now, but I reckon thats more to do with using a webcam than the compression as the images Jamie's uploaded seem to have kept their clarity.
