Rubbish!

Last week I was invited to attend presentations by contractors bidding for the rubbish and recycling contract for ULU (University of London Union); the current contractors charge too much for too little.

Oh boy! Three PowerPoint presentations! Wow! In fact the presentations were very interesting and the discussion and questions afterwards more so: what is your company's attitude towards paying the London Living Wage? exactly how is waste collected on the premises? how will we know how much is taken away by weight? will we be informed of its eventual destination e.g. energy use, fertiliser, recycled materials etc? I had no idea how interesting rubbish could be! One company also volunteered the projected carbon footprint of their activities.

Being a Trustee leads one down all kinds of interesting paths!
