We wanted to let everyone know that the ivo.org website will close down in the new year. Please ensure that you download any content that you wish to keep as all content on ivo.org will be deleted by 28 February 2017.
Why is ivo.org closing?
When ivo launched in 2009 - as i-volunteer - there were few social networking services available for the volunteering sector. Indeed it was the first dedicated national social network for volunteering in the UK and came about as part of a research project that showed that volunteer managers were not engaging with social media. Following its launch the platform quickly established itself as the leading online space for volunteer managers as well as a useful service for recruiting volunteers.
Since then volunteer managers have adopted a wide range of other digital services to network, learn and share as well as recruit volunteers. Whilst ivo had been a primary choice for most of these activities, in the past couple of years we have seen the numbers using the platform drop considerably, to the point where it is now only being used by a small number of people which makes it uneconomical to keep open.
When we started few volunteer managers had used a social networking site and we're delighted to see that by using ivo as their first social online experience, many have have since taken to other platforms with ease and confidence. We feel proud to have played a part in the social media journeys for the thousands of volunteer managers that have used us over the past 7 years, and we can now move on safe in the knowledge that ivo is no longer required.
The platform will continue as normal until 28th February 2017. During this time you are free to download your content to ensure you retain any information you want to keep. If you wish to save or publish ivo content that is not your own then please ensure that you credit the creator and ivo.

The closure of the ivo.org website does not affect the Do-it.org volunteering service which will continue as normal.
