Following a successful Walk For All event in the Yorkshire Dales last year, For All Events have arranged three walking festivals for 2012. The first event for the Peak District took place on Sunday 29th April, the second Yorkshire Dales event is on the 19th August and the first event for the Lake District will take place on Sunday 9th September.
The classic slate countryside surrounding Lake Windermere is the setting for the inaugural Jane Tomlinson's Walk For All Lake District Walking Festival. The festival will include a programme of walking events, incorporating three exciting and challenging routes:
- 4.5 mile family friendly (not suitable for pushchairs) - The 4.5 mile walk, although shorter is distance, is an equal challenge to walkers who find the longer distances a bit daunting. Whilst a shorter route, it does involved a climb to High Skelghyll, where the stunning views of the lake and beyond are very rewarding for the effort involved.
- 13 miles - The 13 mile walk not only offers a challenging distance, but also the chance to take in some of the Lake District's breath-taking scenery. The route is by no means flat and you will earn your right to stunning views of the lake and beyond by walking the ascent up and across Latterbarrow.
- 18 miles - The 18 mile walk is perfect for walkers looking for a challenge in one of the most beautiful areas of the country. Incorporating a varied terrain, breath taking views of the lake are in store for participants as they make their way North from Lakeside to Ambleside.
Walk For All is a not for profit event with all proceeds after expenses going to charity. Walkers can choose to raise funds for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, any of our partner charities or indeed any other charity or good cause close to their heart.
