Your chance to style the London Ambassadors uniform

London Fashion Week may be over, but here's your chance to pass on your sartorial style tips. 8,000 volunteers will be helping out as London Ambassadors for the 2012 Olympic Games. The question is, what should they wear?
Volunteers will be busy - working for six consecutive days in our crowded capital, helping out visitors with directions and advice. They’ll be doing five-hour shifts between 6am and 10pm, and could be either indoors or outdoors. Although it’ll be the summer this is London, so all weather is possible. The uniforms must be the same for all volunteers, regardless of their age. And volunteers get to keep their uniforms once the Games are over.

The London Ambassador designers would like to know what you would like to wear if you were volunteering as London Ambassador in 2012. Would you prefer a polo shirt to a T-shirt? Cargo pants or a tracksuit? And if you were on your feet in London for five hours at a time, would you rather be in shoes, boots or trainers?

Please do not disappoint us! Volunteers are giving a lot in contributing to this event - to make it the best.... . An Ambassador MUST look the part: baggy trousers and a T-shirt are not on. Colours should of course be used to stand out from the crowd (black or dark colours should be avoided). Some form of visual status should be added, maybe a yellow diagonal stripe across the chest. This could be useful when and if dealing with services to identify membership and to catch the eye!?!! The quality of the material should be worthy of an Ambassador - also!
A hat is a must, and why not a top hat - this gives room for a logo splash motif or ceremonial colours.
I would prefer lightweight trousers in a dark colour (if it is cold tights could be worn underneath , if it hot a lightweight material would be comfortable)
A tailored polo shirt would be smarter than a baggy T shirt, I do not like the idea of the Union Jack but red, white and blue with a prominent logo would be distinctive.
I think that the fleece should be in a plain colour, eithor red or blue
A waterproof hat (please, please not a baseball cap for women) in matching colours would be useful.
Shoes should obviously be comfortable, I would prefer a slip on style, with good heel support
Please anything except pink and purple !!!
What would i like to wear? Definitely trainers for footwear - besides fitting in with the sporting theme of the Olympics, they'll be the best thing for the volunteers' feet. A polo shirt and cargo pants would be a little smarter than a tracksuit and t-shirt or why not black-coloured bottoms of the volunteers' choice eg skirt, trousers, cargo pants, with a uniform polo-shirt, rain-proof jacket and cap?
As far as colours go, they should be very distinctive - I've heard rumours of pink&purple, which would be eye-catching and distinctive, as well as not being confused with any national team colours, but my choice would be for black bottoms with Union Jack tops with the phrase 'London 2012' splashed all over. Oh, and a matching umbrella!
That's my tuppence worth, can't wait to read other people's ideas!
