Orange set to launch mobile micro volunteering

Mobile phone network Orange, have launched a new initiative aimed at utilising their network to promote volunteering.
A new website hosted by the network is calling for people to submit ideas for volunteering opportunities that can be undertaken through a mobile phone. Orange intends to take the 10 best ideas and turn them into a mobile application that will be launched later in the year.
The network has suggested a number of ways in which volunteers could do something via their mobile, such as filling in surveys, taking photos and making videos on a charity’s behalf and providing mentoring and advice to its beneficiaries.
This is not the first time that the mobile operator has promoted volunteering. In 2007 they sucessfully launched the Orange RockCorps programme, where young people volunteer for four hours in exchange for tickets to exclusive music gigs, including headline acts as Lady Gaga and Tinie Tempah.
