About the Service

Norwood Future Clean is one of the first commercial car washes to be staffed by people with a learning disability.  The service was first launched in 2011.  We have three projects in total and need volunteers to work alongside the people we support encouraging them in their roles.

Norwood Future Clean is part of our Supported Employment programme.  The aim of this programme is to empower the people we support to gain and sustain suitable employment. The Car Wash is a fantastic new training project which gives people with a learning disability the opportunity to gain important work skills and some business experience. Through the use of bio-degradable cleaning fluids, it is also virtually waterless and demonstrates Norwood’s green credentials.

About the volunteering role:

We need assistants to work alongside the people we support.  Car wash assistants will be involved in washing and valeting the cars as well as supporting people with learning disabilities to maintain their role at the car wash.  You will also be involved in dealing with customers and maintaining the professionalism of the service.

Some of the people you will be working alongside may be lacking in confidence, or isolated because of their disability, so we need volunteers who can work sensitively.  Volunteers will also assist us with developing this initiative.
