Volunteer Centre Brighton and Hove are delivering 2 courses in April for the Working Together Project

Weds. 21st April
Developing a new volunteering programme
9.30am – 4.30 pm
Stanmer Room, Brighthelm
(Introductory level)
This course is for organisations who are new to setting up a volunteering programme, or who plan to take on significantly more volunteers. It is aimed at organisations where there is or will be a mix of paid staff and volunteers. It will cover
• When it is appropriate to involve volunteers?
• Getting people at all levels in the organisation on board
• Designing roles that will meet organisational aims and be rewarding for volunteers
• Creating the right framework – policies, procedures and systems
• Budgeting for volunteer involvement

Weds. 28th April & 5th May
Introduction to managing volunteers****
9.30am – 3.30pm
Relaxation Rooms, Bridge Education Centre
(Introductory level)
This two-day course is for anyone whose role includes managing volunteers, who is new to the role, or would like a refresher. This course will give you an overview of all aspects of volunteer management:
• an introduction to the issues involved in managing volunteers, and how this is different from managing staff
• recruitment and selection
• roles and agreements
• policies and handbooks
• how to effectively manage and retain volunteers
• monitoring and evaluating volunteer involvement
You will have an opportunity to practise skills learnt in a safe and supportive environment, and to develop an action plan, as well as receive sources of further information and support.
