Today, Wednesday 18th July, is Nelson Mandela’s birthday. To celebrate his incredible legacy to the world a campaign has been launched to encourage everyone to pledge 67 minutes of their time in recognition of his 67 years of public service.
The Mandela Day Pledge campaign is being supported by the United Nations plus a host of celebrities and business and community leaders including Desmond Tutu, the pop group One Direction, Manchester United, actor and comediene Eddie Izzard and racing champion Lewis Hamilton, with hundreds more set to join them, along with their millions of fans.
An official pledge book website has been set up for the Nelson Mandela Foundation and anyone can join Nelson Mandela’s global movement for good by making their pledge of time. The pledges will be compiled into a book and presented to his foundation after July 18th.
