Giving volunteers a voice

TimeBank has created an online tool for people to rate their volunteering, so others can find out what it’s really like from someone who’s done it. A bit like a TripAdvisor, but for volunteering. If you have any volunteering experience it’d be great if you could take a couple of minutes to leave a Review. Reading about your experience can help others to find the right volunteering for them. It’ll also help organizations to find out how they can improve the volunteering they offer.

If you haven’t yet started volunteering you can out what volunteering is really like from someone who’s done it. You can browse the Reviews, or search for the organization you want to get involved with and read what it’s like to volunteer for them.

If you are a Volunteer Involving Organization you can use the reviews however you wish. They may help highlight good or bad practice, a potential issue or just show the great things volunteers are doing to help your cause. We believe that feedback, both good and bad, is essential to improve volunteering. Ask your volunteers to rate, and you’ll have access to valuable feedback. Positive reviews might also encourage more people to volunteer with you – have a look to see what people have said so far.

We really want to bring to life the value of volunteering in the hope that it will encourage many more people to consider giving up their time and skills to help good causes. The reviews we’ve seen on the site already provide evidence that a majority of the volunteering opportunities out there are hugely valuable for both the individual and the organization.
