'Let's Protect' - support for small community groups working with children and younger people
Safety Net have launched the ‘Let’s Protect’ Programme of support for small community organisations across Brighton & Hove. Some of the benefits that groups who have taken part have reported are:
- Creating a solid Staff & Volunteer Induction checklist
- Being clear about who needs a CRB and why
- Verifying the safety of their work to other members of the community
- A better understanding of Risk Assessments
- Proving their safety to funders and partners
- Being clear on the responsibilities of parent helpers
- Gathering all of their policies in one place
- Having support to change and develop policies
- Creating new policies for outdoor work, fires and use of knives and equipment
- Feeling relieved that they are doing everything ‘right’
- Having the opportunity to help us to create new training courses
