TRUSTEE OPENING AT IMPETUS

PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD-WINNING CHARITY

We are searching for a candidate to join the Impetus Board, a friendly, highly skilled team of five trustees. Our culture is very customer satisfaction orientated in regard to clients, staff, volunteers and trustees. We are happy to consider all applicants who have worked at a senior management level. Experience in human resources / personnel and best practice in volunteer management are particularly desirable.

Impetus is a dynamic, medium-sized charity that provides advocacy and services for learning disabled people, older people and people with Asperger Syndrome. We also run the Brighton and Hove Volunteer Centre and provide management consulting services to other charities in the city.

Impetus was selected winner of Best Initiative in Mental Health and Well-Being in Brighton & Hove Council’s Annual Public Service Awards in November 2010. The charity has a reputation as a major player within the local sector, is well established in partnership working, is the leader of a new Wellbeing Consortium of local organisations to collectively tender bids for large contracts, and has a senior leadership role in the city’s local strategic partnership. Impetus worked with city agencies to develop the first Volunteering Strategy for Brighton and Hove, which is currently being implemented.

Our mission is to empower local people by championing volunteering and strengthening community and voluntary organisations. We have a staff of 19 and more than 570 volunteers.

Applicants must be willing to commit to a minimum of two years service. Time commitment: a three to four-hour board meeting every two months. Participation in a board working group or project advisory group for approximately 3 hours per month.
